A Warm and Cozy Kitchen

Moms spend a lot of time in the kitchen, it’s not only the three meals a day, but all the snacking in between and the washing and cleaning, and don’t forget the many wonderful conversations we have in this space! So it’s only logical that we want to make it a welcoming place for us and our families.

When I think of cozy, I think of an old English home with a little garden or a little cottage like probably where Little Red Riding Hood’s grandma lived.

All my home decor is mainly inspired by the homes in the English countryside that I saw in movies and shows during my childhood, sans le wolf of course.

A lot of people now refer to the English countryside style as Cottagecore and it has become so popular that you can find lots of beautiful things everywhere, specially in my favorite place to shop at 3am while breastfeeding: Amazon!!

I will add links in here to all the products I got to create my cozy kitchen. But just an FYI, this blog is reader-supported, meaning I don’t have any adds popping up all over the place, but if you click on any of the links I’ll get a small commission at no cost to you.

I am a stay at home mom with three littles, so of course the kitchen is mainly where I live. I wanted to take on the challenge of making it extra cozy with the least amount of money and while planning for this I noticed 5 main steps to do just that.

Let’s dig in!

1. Make Space

Remove as many appliances as you can. If there are things you don’t use every day, try to find other places like a cabinet, pantry, or closet to store it away. There might be things that you haven’t used in a long time nor will ever use again that can be donated.

My rule is if I haven’t used it in over a year, it’s gone! Do a garage sale and make some money or donate it and save the receipt for your taxes!

Also you might want to use an appliance slider for your bulky machines to push out of the way after using and get extra counter space. I use this one for my air fryer: https://amzn.to/3GNIbCv

The Coffee Station. Not everyone can demo a whole wall to build coffee its own house!

However, giving coffee its own little space on your countertop is much more doable.

2. Contain It

I like containing all the items in a tray, It makes cleaning easier and it gives them their own little spot. I also love the efficiency and convenience of having everything I need for making coffee or tea in one spot.

It’s so cozy and makes me feel happy, the vibe in my kitchen has totally changed.

The wooden tray I found turned out awesome and it’s the perfect size to contain things and not take up too much space on my counter, it’s also really good quality.

3. Add Texture

The wood and all the different textures combine to add warmth and life to the kitchen. The little glass jars are the cutest vintage detail, they are very sturdy and hold a lot. All six of those come in a pack, I used 4 for my tea leaves and the other two in the coffee tray.

One jar I used for chocolate powder, the other is my coconut sugar- I have quit sugar but am unable to drink unsweetened coffee, so the coconut sugar has been a wonderful substitute.

I already owned the big white container and use it for my coffee grounds and the small sugar container I turned it into a spoon holder. How cute are those little gold spoons?!

The best thing about having spoons there is that I don’t have to go searching for a spoon every time I want coffee or tea, especially in the afternoon when they are all dirty because of the kids. These spoons are only for our coffee station and come six in a pack.

4. Add Light and Art

The little lamp just gives life to this corner and gives it that touch of warmth I wanted, and you get two so you can use the other in a bathroom or as a nightlight. Don’t forget the light bulbs!

I was so happy when I found that framed canvas! It matched the decor perfectly, I just wish I had gotten the next size because I think this one may be a tad too little.

Also, how adorable is that honey dispenser!? It’s a little piece of art.

5. Add Plants

Artificial or real, plants add so much life to any space! The little plant I have there also adds to the ambiance, and is part of a 4 pack so I used the others around the house including the next section in the kitchen!

The Kitchen Tools and Oils Station

For my oil station I looked at so many different bottles, I wanted something that looked pretty but none of the ones I found had the spray function that I really need. To me these oil bottles are by far the best ones, you can spray or drizzle!

That little lazy suzan gives it the wooden texture I like for adding warmth, as does the little chopping block in the back.

The dash of pretty blue from the pot holders adds a comforting feel. Lastly, that flower vase with the high quality artificial poppies adds a high end look.

Bonus!

If you have a kitchen island, you will love these flowers I found! They are gorgeous, I love the quality, almost like something from Pottery Barn or other high-end furniture stores. Also, this is only 4 branches and it is plenty! So happy with the result, they are the right pop of color and life I wanted. So cute!

No matter the weather or what is going on, my kitchen feels warm and inviting, and yet remains very functional!

I love this decor style because as a mom, I’m not just looking to decorate a space with the trendiest items, I am looking to create a home.

Removing as many appliances as I could and adding all the textures and warmth of these items really helped me create a welcoming and cozy space.

Hope you can find some inspiration from this!

Hugs to you dear friend,

Nicole
